Course Overview

The UniFi Routing, Switching & Cybersecurity Admin (URSCA) course is a comprehensive training program designed by Ubiquiti to equip participants with essential skills for designing, building, and managing enterprise networks. This three day classroom-based course offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on lab activities utilizing UniFi’s Cloud Gateway and related hardware.

Course Duration: (3 Days)
  • Day 1:09:00 to 17:00
  • Day 2:09:00 to 17:00
  • Day 3:09:00 to 17:00 (Followed by 60 Minute Exam)

Student Requirements

Laptop & Charger, with Admin Rights & Wired/Wireless Ethernet. Basic Knowledge of IP Addressing, Subnetting, DHCP & DNS is assumed. This is a condensed course with highly technical concepts discussed in depth. Attendees are encouraged to study at the end of each day to ensure success in the exam. Please note: Students must bring their own ethernet adapters & laptops, the trainer is unable to provide this.

What You'll Learn

1. Network Theory:

  • Covers foundational topics including OSI and TCP/IP models, transport layer protocols, IPv4/IPv6 communication, and network interface types.

2. Network Design:

  • Focuses on network hierarchy, broadcast and collision domains, differences between networking devices (bridges, switches, routers), VLANs, subnetting, and high-availability setups like WAN failover and load-balancing.

3. Switching:

  • Includes key concepts like MAC tables, spanning tree protocol, port security, link aggregation, access control lists, and the 802.1X authentication standard.

4. Routing:

  • Discusses routing fundamentals, static and dynamic routing (including OSPF and upcoming BGP), and policy-based routing.

5. Network Services:

  • Discusses network services like DHCPv4/6, DNS and NAT. Understanding Firewall, QoS and Traffic Shaping, Tunnelling, Remote User and Site-to-Site VPN’s.

6. Cybersecurity:

  • Focuses on best practices and secure management access, network Malware and Threat detection, IDS/IPS, cryptography, device and traffic identification, remote logging and access.
